The School of Choice teaches reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary to students in all grades. We test each student in these subjects when they enter our school, and then we give them appropriate coursebooks in grammar and vocabulary. We teach writing integrated with reading, and we read great books and ideas from our library. To improve our schools, the Headmasters favor "classical" or "liberal" education: education which is both rigorous in its linguistic demands and comprehensive in its approach to human endeavor through literature and history. (See the chart of our curricula.)
Our classes lend greatest assistance to students with special gifts, talents or perseverance who seek higher standards. Our instructors need not choose "dumbed-down" or "politically-correct" curricula. We proudly teach middle school and high school students the Bible, Socrates, Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Burke, Gibbon, Samuel Morrison or Paul Johnson. We then pass high school students through challenging Advanced Placement Courses in History, English, Calculus, Computers, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. We agree with the Wises that this rigorous education, produces students who can judge things for themselves, who are "literate, curious, intelligent students who have a wide range of interests and the ability to follow up on them."
Andre Malraux
