Greater Expectations

There is no reason in the world why seventh grade students should only read or write at seventh grade levels. Students from other parts of the world, and our own students a century ago, have proven this. If supportive parents and teachers raise their expectations, so will the students. Later, the students will raise their own standards. We believe greater expectations may mean not just higher intellectual standards, but also broader moral or spiritual perspectives and more abundant experiences such as world travel, student entrepreneurship, political participation or artistic achievement. Jaime Escalante, the teacher featured in Stand and Deliver, once taught AP Calculus to hundreds of Los Angeles students from rough neighborhoods. He demonstrated that:

"students will rise to the level of expectations."

Our carefully crafted school curriculum and our individualized college planning provide dedicated and ambitious students a roadmap to reach their academic goals and, eventually, their dreams in life.
